There's a mod out there that does all of that plus more. It's called HUDini. It tells you Armor status and Tool Status in percentages or in numbers, Potion effects, What time it is in the world, it also displays a hunger warning. There's a bunch more packed into the mod but I can't name them all because there's a whole bunch. You can get the mod from here

is the backpack mod allowed? it just add backpacks which can make you have more space just lie a real backpack sort of
